Volkswagen Tiguan started local production in India for the Indian market

Finally, the Volkswagen Tiguan SUV is here in our country after spending months in the international market. Tiguan aims to be the perfect premium SUV at an expected price range of INR 25-30lacs, rivalling the Ford endeavour and Toyota Fortuner. 

It is the first Volkswagen Group’s first SUV based on the MQB(Modular Transverse Matric) platform that makes it 50Kilograms lighter than the present out-going model.The car will also show some minor changes for the Indian market and roads.

Engine and transmission:

The new Tiguan SUV will come in both diesel and petrol. The diesel shall be powered by a 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine that also powers the Skoda Octavia. This engine pruduces a maximum power output of 177bhp and a peak torque of 350Nm. There will also be a 7-speed DSG gearbox for taking care of transmission duties or maybe even another option of the 10-speed DSG . It also expected red to shoecase 1.4  litre and 2.0 litre TSI petrol engines and 1.6litre and 2.0 litre diesel optins. While the base version of the car will have front wheel drive system, the top-spec model would be having the standard or optional 4Motion AWD (all-wheel-drive) layout. The engine never feels out of power and torque with those figures in hand, even at 3 digit speeds.

Exterior:

The car has an overall length of 4485mm, width of 1839mm and a height of 1633mm with a wheelbase of approximately 2682mm. The car has an attractive looking led headlight with chrome inserts in the grill. The car has 18 inch alloys which give it a huge advantage in terms of ground clearance,handling, stability and softroading.The vehicle looks absolutely new from the side and it’s high roofline with stylish roof rails give it a very much required SUV like stance.The rear horizontal LED taillights and the top lip spoiler adds to the beauty of the car. It gets Chrome finished exhaust pipe tips which looks appealing too.

Interior:

The VG Tiguan has a 12.3 inch active info screen which displays the instrumental dials with navigation (globally), and also provides with an option for 5inch and 8 inch touch infotainment systems. The steering has a nice feel and te gearbox does its job very nicely.The seatd are adequately cushioned but supportive. The rear seat have a great amount of legroom and headroom and the car comes with 3-zone automatic climate control for all the creature comfort one will ever require. The vehicle has low body roll and it’s quite agile for its size and weight.

Safety:

The car comes with Automatic post collision braking system, lane assist and 7 airbags along with knee airbags for the front seat occupants.It also gets pedestrian monitoring function and city emergency braking. The top variants shall come with lane changing assist, adaptive cruise control and 360° cameras. You will always feel safe in here no matter what the circumstances are.

Tata Tigor launched with a pre-booking fee of INR 10,000

Tata Tigor, a much awaited Tata product is finally out in the Indian market which aims to replace the outgoing Indigo eCS. To begin with, it’s NOT just a Tiago with boot. Rivaling the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Volkswagen Ameo and Hyundai Xcent is new sub four metre coupé like sedan by Tata which has grasped a lot of attention nation-wide. Looking unlike any other car in the segment  with the sloping roofline and projector headlights, it truly looks unique and has a great appeal and will turn heads.

Exterior:

The car gets a new headlamp with projectors ligts and a slightly changed grill in the front. From the side it doesn’t resemble a Tiago at all! The rising window line looks sporty and the back is unlike any car we know in the segment it belongs to. The Chrome finished high boot with led taillights look sexy and it’s notch back style is very impressive.

Engine:

Tata Tigor gets two engines , a 1.0litre turbo 3 cylinder  69BHP diesel engine with 140Nm of torque and a 1.2litre Revetron petrol motor with  84BHP and 140Nm of torque.Thr car feels peppy and will never make you feel out of power and torque. The engines feel very refined for both the price and the segment it falls in. Both engines come mated to a five speed manual Transmission​ and the automatic should be coming in a few months time too.We expect a good mileage from both engines. 

Interior:

It gets the same interior as that of Tata Tiago with a few minor cosmetic changes here and there.The steering feel is great and the dashboard is made of shiny plastic which looks quite premium. It gets the Harman audio system with 8 speakers. It has a very comfortable and supportive front row seats and the rear seats get ample amounts of leg room, shoulder room and head room even with the slanting roof. The safety tech on the car is enough to  I keep you an dyiur family safe on the road  The cabin insulation is great too! and the AC is very powerful and will keep you happy and cool even in the scorching Indian summers. The boot is big with a large opening at a class leading 419 litres.

Tata hasn’t yet released the official prices. If priced between competitively between 4-6.5lacs, the car should be a great choice.It is currently available in 6 colour choices, namely Sunburst orange, Pearlescent white, Platinum silver, Striker blue, Berry red and Expresso brown.
